Container sizes we load

Ocean freight is quoted by your forwarder based on destination and container size. The ranges below are typical market costs, not a quote from Discount Wholesalers Inc. Buying from Latin America? See our guide for buyers who export to their own country, also available in Spanish.

20'
Standard container

The entry point for export buyers testing a new market or a new category.

40'
High volume

The most common export format — the best balance of freight cost and volume.

45'
Maximum volume

Lowest cost per unit when you are moving a full truckload equivalent.

You do not have to fill the container in one purchase

Build your container order by order

A container does not have to be one big decision. Export buyers regularly place several orders over a few weeks — a few pallets of cosmetics when a load lands, a pallet of household goods the next week, apparel after that — and we hold the merchandise and ship it together on one container.

Why it works: ocean freight is priced per container, not per pallet, so every order you add before the container ships rides on the same freight cost. It also lets you buy each category when it is actually on the floor, instead of settling for whatever is available the day you want to ship.

Tell your sales rep from the first order that you are building a container. They will keep your merchandise together, tell you how much space you still have, and let you know when it makes sense to close the load.

Pallet by pallet, or a full container?

Ocean freight runs roughly $400–$1,000 per pallet, while a full container runs $2,500–$6,000 regardless of how full it is. Pick your volume to see where the line crosses.

Freight cost comparison

Based on the freight ranges published on our Shipping & Delivery page.

Pallet by pallet
$2,000–$5,000
5 × $400–$1,000
vs
Full container
$2,500–$6,000
Flat, regardless of fill

At this volume the two are close. Pallet-by-pallet can win if your destination is on the low end of the range — worth quoting both.

Pallet by pallet
$4,000–$10,000
10 × $400–$1,000
vs
Full container
$2,500–$6,000
Flat, regardless of fill
Cheaper

The container is already ahead — and every pallet you add after this rides for free.

Pallet by pallet
$8,000–$20,000
20 × $400–$1,000
vs
Full container
$2,500–$6,000
Flat, regardless of fill
Far cheaper

At 20 pallets, shipping loose costs several times what the same volume costs in one container.

Pallet by pallet
$9,600–$26,000
24–26 × $400–$1,000
vs
Full container
$2,500–$6,000
Flat, regardless of fill
Best cost per unit

A full truckload is 24–26 pallets and up to 22,000+ units. This is the format that makes export margins work.

Freight estimates only. Discount Wholesalers Inc. is not a shipping provider or freight forwarder — your forwarder issues the actual quote.

How an export order works

Step 1

Pick your load

Browse truckloads and pallets, or tell us the categories and volume you need.

Step 2

See it on video

We film the actual merchandise before you commit. No blind buying from overseas.

Step 3

Confirm your import rules

Check duties and restrictions with your customs office before you order.

Step 4

Arrange freight

Your forwarder books the container and handles clearance at destination.

What international buyers need to know

Customs is on you

Our pricing does not include customs clearance, duties, or taxes in your country. Confirm them locally before ordering.

Manifests are not guaranteed

Because of the type of liquidation merchandise we sell, a manifest or country-of-origin document is not always available.

We are not a freight forwarder

We can point you in the right direction for larger loads, but booking the vessel and the customs broker is on the buyer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fill a container with several orders?
Yes, and many export buyers do exactly that. You can order over several weeks as new loads arrive; we keep your merchandise together and ship it on one container. Tell your sales rep from the first order so they can track how much space you have left.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We export orders on a regular weekly basis. Larger volumes move by ocean freight container; smaller box-size orders can be quoted through UPS or USPS on our website.
Can you provide a manifest for customs?
Not always. Because of the type of liquidation merchandise we sell, we are not always able to provide a manifest or country-of-origin documentation. This has not caused problems for the orders we export weekly, but confirm your own country's requirements before buying.
Who pays customs duties and taxes?
The buyer. Our quotes never include customs clearance fees, duties, or taxes in the destination country. Contact your local customs office before placing an order to understand what you will owe.
Do you arrange the ocean freight?
No. Discount Wholesalers Inc. is not a shipping provider or freight forwarder. For larger international orders our sales team can help you connect with a freight forwarder who handles U.S. exports.
How many pallets fit in a truckload?
A full truckload is 24–26 pallets and can carry up to 22,000+ units. Truckloads start at $5,500.
Do you have a Spanish-speaking sales team?
Yes. Our sales team is bilingual in English and Spanish. See our guide for export buyers, which is also available in Spanish.
